About Ross

I'm Ross Stirland, the founder of UK Power Tech Hub, a North Wales-based platform helping people understand the rapidly developing world of plug-in solar, battery storage and smarter home energy. What started as a passion for renewable energy technology has grown into a business with a clear purpose: to make new technology easier to understand, helping everyday people make informed decisions about products that could change how they power their homes. Alongside working full-time, I've been building UK Power Tech Hub from the ground up, developing our website, growing our online communities, creating independent content and building relationships with manufacturers across the industry. I'm passionate about cutting through the jargon, asking the questions consumers want answered and exploring what new technology means for real households across the UK. From product comparisons and practical advice to the latest developments in plug-in solar, my aim is to make reliable information accessible to everyone. Being recognised in the North Wales Business Awards would mean a great deal to me. I'm proud to be building a business from North Wales, connecting with a growing community and helping shine a light on the future of home energy. This is only the beginning, and I'm excited about what UK Power Tech Hub can become.

About UK Power Tech Hub

UK Power Tech Hub is an independent, North Wales-based energy technology platform with a UK-wide ambition. Founded to help people navigate the rapidly developing world of plug-in solar, balcony solar, battery storage and home energy technology, we turn complicated technical information into practical, accessible guidance. Our particular focus is the emerging market for compliant plug-in solar in Great Britain and how it fits into the wider home energy and battery storage landscape. We cover new product launches, manufacturer developments, compatibility, safety, UK requirements, potential savings and the questions consumers need answered before investing. Through our website, articles, Facebook communities, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest and Substack, we are building a connected platform where consumers can discover new technology, understand its practical applications and make better-informed decisions. What makes UK Power Tech Hub different is our focus on the UK market, our engagement with the people asking real questions, and our ambition to go beyond news and product promotion. By developing relationships with manufacturers and working towards practical product testing, we aim to provide useful, independent-minded coverage of a fast-moving industry. Built in North Wales. Built for the UK.

About Ross's team

UK Power Tech Hub is currently founder-led by Ross, who works as Founder and Editor alongside a full-time management career. Building the platform takes commitment beyond simply publishing articles: researching new technologies, following industry developments, maintaining the website, creating content, engaging with the community and developing relationships with manufacturers. Ross brings experience from the electrical networks sector, alongside his operational management background. This combination helps shape a practical approach to energy technology, with an emphasis on understanding how products work, what consumers need to know and why UK requirements matter. The community is an important part of the journey. Questions, discussions and feedback from people exploring solar and battery storage help inform the subjects we cover. Meanwhile, conversations with manufacturers and industry contacts are opening opportunities to develop product coverage and testing. We may be a small, founder-led operation today, but the ambition is much bigger: to build a recognised UK resource that connects consumers with clear information and the latest developments in accessible energy technology.

The journey

UK Power Tech Hub has grown from a passion for energy technology into an ambitious specialist platform focused on the changing UK solar and battery storage market. With experience in electrical networks, I was interested in how new technology could make energy generation and storage more accessible. As interest in portable power, home batteries and plug-in solar grew, so did the need for clear information about products, compatibility, safety and what was genuinely suitable for consumers in the UK. I began building UK Power Tech Hub alongside my full-time career, developing the website, publishing articles and growing a presence across multiple social platforms and communities. Each step has required learning new skills, creating content consistently and finding ways to stand out in an increasingly competitive market. Attending Solar & Storage Live at the NEC marked an important step forward. Meeting manufacturers and industry contacts helped turn online research into real conversations about product developments, testing opportunities and collaboration. Relationships with companies across the sector are now helping shape the platform's next stage. The introduction of compliant plug-in solar in Great Britain in August 2026 represents a particularly important moment for our specialism. As this market develops, UK Power Tech Hub has an opportunity to help consumers understand the technology, the requirements and the choices available to them. The business is still growing, but the direction is clear: build on our community, strengthen industry relationships, expand practical product coverage and establish UK Power Tech Hub as a trusted name in UK plug-in solar and battery storage.

Why your vote matters

UK Power Tech Hub is being built from the ground up, alongside a full-time career, with a clear ambition: to help people across the UK understand the fast-changing world of plug-in solar, battery storage and accessible energy technology. Every article written, every new connection made and every conversation within our growing community is another step towards making UK Power Tech Hub a recognised name in this emerging industry. For a small, founder-led business, support really does make a difference. Your vote would recognise the time, commitment and determination behind the platform, and help shine a light on an independent North Wales business working hard to build something with long-term potential. Thank you to everyone who has followed, shared, contributed to discussions or supported the journey so far. Every bit of support helps us keep moving forward.
